WATER THEFT NOTICE

Please be advised that all water used from the Cleburne County Water Authority system must be purchased through the Cleburne County Water Authority office. We are located at 2531 Highway 46 in Heflin. Information on purchasing water from hydrants can be obtained by calling 256-463-7860. Our office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. CST.

Theft of water is a crime punishable with imprisonment up to 20 years and a fine up to $10,000.00. In addition, anyone in violation may be subject to civil liability of up to three times the lost revenue and other cost and expenses including attorney’s fees. (13A-8-10, 13A-8-23, 6-5-602 Code of Alabama)

The only exceptions are for firefighting purposes and flowing hydrants for testing pressure. Fire departments are required to notify the Water Authority of any use.
